Mets Close To Deal With Mariners For Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz

The New York Mets are close to acquiring Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz from the Seattle Mariners.

Cano is owed $120 million and the Mariners could send additional money in the deal.

Among the Mets prospects being mentioned in the talks are right-hander Justin Dunn, a first-rounder in 2016, and outfielder Jarred Kelenic, the sixth overall pick in 2018. Second baseman Jeff McNeil has also been mentioned, as well as veterans with big contracts such as right fielder Jay Bruce, left-handed starter Jason Vargas and right-handed reliever Anthony Swarzak.

Diaz is considered the main prize of the deal for the Mets as he's coming off a season with a 1.96 ERA and 57 saves at the age of 24.
